Barolo & Barbaresco High-Scoring Modern Classics

Piedmont is home to the Nebbiolo grape that is used to produce two of Italy’s greatest wines: Barolo and Barbaresco. Both in the hands of top growers are sublime and the difficulty in making distinctions between the two is that they are by nature a generalisation.

Barolo tends to be seen as being more powerful with pronounced tannins and typically long-lived with the capacity to age for decades, whilst being less approachable in their youth. Whereas, Barbaresco produces softer, more elegant wines with less power and tend to mature earlier than Barolo. The truth as always is more complex and more nuanced (like the wines themselves) and whatever your individual preferences, make no mistake both Barolo and Barbaresco are amongst the world’s greatest red wines.

We are delighted to offer an outstanding range of top scoring wines from leading growers in both Barolo and Barbaresco from the best modern vintages such as 2004, 2006, 2010, 2013 and 2016.
